[Scholarship] Bowl4Life Storm Scholarship

Bowl4Life sponsors multiple scholarships with application windows throughout the year—the Storm Scholarship is accepting applications until July 9th, and requires a resume and a 500 word essay (roughly 2 pages double-spaced) to the following prompt:

In 2020 the co-founders of Storm, Bill and Barbara Chrisman, were elected to the USBC Hall of Fame. Imagine you have been elected to the Hall of Fame and write your acceptance speech.

The application can be downloaded here, and all applications can be emailed to the email address listed on the form. Any junior bowler who is SMART scholarship eligible can apply (i.e. pretty much any junior bowler).

PBA: Billy Welu Scholarship

Application deadline: June 22, 2022

“The Professional Bowlers Association Billy Welu Scholarship is awarded annually, recognizing exemplary qualities in male or female college students who compete in the sport of bowling.

The scholarship winner receives $1,000. To be eligible candidates must be amateur bowlers who are currently in college (preceding the application date) and maintain at least a 2.5/4.0 GPA or equivalent.”

USBC SMART: Federal Pell Grant Match

USBC recently announced a $7 million investment in the Scholarship Management and Account Reporting for Tenpins (SMART) program, which includes:

  • A bonus $980 to students who requested use of SMART funds in 2021, totaling to $3.6 million
  • A total $4.7 million for Providers to allocate in unassigned funds
  • $1.2 million for Pell Grant Match

College students who have an active SMART account and are eligible for a Pell Grant for the 2022-2023 school year can submit a form to USBC when the 2022-2023 school year starts.
